CANDLE MAKING INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Calibrate your pitcher.
Two-8oz. Jelly Jars equals approximately a pound. You will use 1.5 ozs. by weight of scent per pound. In order to determine the right proportion of scent and wax for your candle's you must first calibrate your pitcher. You calibrate your pitcher by filling your Jelly Jars up with water to the desired height of your candles and then pouring the water into the pitcher. Mark the pitcher with a marker where the water level is for the two jars, four jars and six jars. Now when you are making your candles, you will know the right amount of wax and scent to put in your pitcher to fill your jars based on the number of candles you choose to make.

  2. After you have marked the pitcher, you need to put your scent in the pitcher. How much scent you put in your candles is up to you, but you have to remember you should not put more than 1.5 oz. by weight of scent per pound, or your scent may separate from the wax and settle to the bottom of your candle. Some scent is heavier than others, for example: Sugar cookie and Hazelnut. You can also use a shot glass to measure your scent. However, keep in mind you could be over or under scenting your candles with this method. To single scent - fill the glass to the 15t line: to double scent - fill the 2"' line; and to triple scent your candles - fill to the 3rd line. Please remember if you fill to the 3 line, this does not always measure 1.5ozs. by weight. Your scent measurement is something you will become accustomed to the more you work with your candles. (To remove the guesswork - we recommend using a scale.)

  3. The color and shade of your candles again is up to you. We have 26 colors to choose from. You can even experiment with colors to come up with new and exciting colors. If you want your candles to be colored light, then only use V2 shaving of your color block. To get a darker color, your can use 5 shavings. You can use a little or as much as you wish. We also have a black color block to get darker shades. Shaving the color block is done by using a potato peeler.

  4. After you have put your scent and color block in the pitcher, then add your wax. WAX TEMPEATURE SHOULD BE 16 - 170 DEGREES. Just spoon your wax into your pitcher and fill it to the level you have chosen based on the number of candles you want to make. We use a metal soup ladle to spoon our wax into the pitcher.

  5. Stir your wax, color block and scent for 60 seconds making sure everything is thoroughly mixed. After you arc finished stirring; pour the mixture into your jars. Make sure your wick is centered before the candle cools.
